Atmosphere:  The Deck is located in Portsmouth right across the water from Waterside in Norfolk.  It is literally sitting in the water at the end of the dock.  It is a beautiful view from the dining room.  The bar is in another part of the building so you don't see it from the dining room.  The tables all have table cloths and cloth napkins.  While you may bring children, it is most definitely a date night atmosphere.

What we ordered:  We both ordered a dozen oyster rockefeller.  My husband ordered a side of fries and I ordered a bowl of she crab soup.  We ordered hush puppies as an appetizer.  The hush puppies were in the top 5 best I have ever had.  The she crab soup was amazing.  The oyster rock was made with fresh spinach with very little swiss cheese and very little bacon.  To be honest I didn't like them and only ate 2.  My husband loved them and ate his 12 and the rest of mine.  The french fries were your standard french fries but were hot and crispy.

Service:  The service was excellent.  We were greeted by the hostess immediately after we walked in. We were seated in a lovely dining room with windows all around for a perfect view. We were seated for just a few seconds and the waitress took the drink orders and brought them quickly. She gave us time and space to make up our mind on our dinner and came back to get the orders.  She was very polite and very nice.  It was a lovely dining experience.

Overall Impression:  I will definitely go back but I will choose something else.  I am sure my husband will get the oyster rockefeller.  I wish it hadn't been raining so we could have taken our time walking down the deck.
